Ann Delisi's Essential Music

Ann Delisi

Saturday & Sunday 11am - 2pm

Ann Delisi's Essential Music is pure Detroit. Check out her completely and thoroughly unique view on the music that moves Detroit. New and breaking artists mingle with acts that suddenly sound new when placed in a creative music mix. Nobody listens to just one thing - and ADEM knows it. If it's shaping our culture, it's probably going to show up on ADEM.

Ann knows you can't be Essential + Detroit and leave out our city's incredible music scene. ADEM features music made in Detroit every hour. Bar bands, rhyme poets, bedroom beat mixers, turntablists, give WDET your music! (send it to Ann Delisi, WDET, 4600 Cass Ave., Detroit, MI 48201)

THANK YOU METROTIMES READERS!

You voted ADEM "Best Radio Music Show"

Here's what the MetroTimes readers' picks had to say:MetroTimes Best of Detroit

We'll note that Ann Delisi's Essential Music had been on the air for all of two weeks when voting opened for this year's Best of Detroit competition. How to explain the quick ascension? Pent-up demand theory No. 1: Remember how upset listeners were when WDET began slashing its music programming in 2005? Remember protest meetings and talk of a class-action suit? Four years on, there's still an audience for the kind of music variety programs that were once the station's bedrock. Pent-up demand theory No. 2: But the ebullient and musically savvy Delisi herself has been off the air for some time, and her last on-air shift, at WRCJ, was as a classical music host, not the pop-oriented format that she's built her career on (starting back at WDET from 1983 to 1995). Counter-homogenization theory: As commercial stations lean to more syndicated programming, WDET looks doubly good by hyping both a local host and the prominent role for local music in her show.
